SA 14-day honeymoon itinerary: any feedback please? :)


Would you Kindly give me some feedback about our 14-day trip to South Africa as part of our honeymoon please? We will land on the 23rd September. We are not particularly interested in museums or historical areas, but mostly towns, nature and wildlife.

Day 1

Land in Cape Town, hire a car, drive to Franschhoek. Settle and relax in guesthouse.

Sleep: Franschhoek

Day 2


To do: Tram hop on hop off.

Sleep: Franschhoek

Day 3

Leave Early in the morning to Cape Town.

To do: City centre, including V&A waterfront, Kirstenbosch botanical garden.

Sleep: Cape Town – SeaPoint

Day 4

Go up Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Go to Hout Bay in the afternoon with a trip to Seal Island.

Sleep: Cape Town – SeaPoint

Day 5

Leave early in the morning, drive to Cape Town Peninsula: going through Fish Hoek, Simon’s Town/Boulder’s Beach, Cape Point Nature Reserve, Muizenberg.

Continue driving to Hermanus

Sleep: Hermanus

Day 6

Whale-watching in the morning (probably from the shore). Start drive through garden route – Swellendam, Mossel bay, George, Wilderness, arrive in Knysna. – Possibly also pass through Oudsthoorn on the way. (Is it too much for one day?).

Day 7

Knysna – Knysna heads, Knysna Lagoon

Sleep: Knysna

Day 8

Monkeyland, canyoning near Plettenberg Bay, Birds of Eden

Sleep: Knysna

Day 9

Tsitsikamma National Park (Suspension Bridge and Lookout Trail), drive to Port Elizabeth in the afternoon.

Sleep: Port Elizabeth

Day 10

Leave car in Port Elizabeth. Morning flight to Johannesburg OR Tambo, then fly to Skukuza Airport for safari in Kruger private lodge.

Sleep: Kruger private lodge

Day 11


Sleep: Kruger private lodge

Day 12


Sleep: Kruger private lodge

Day 13


Stay: Kruger private lodge

Day 14:

Driven to Johannesburg through Panorama route by private driver – probably through safari company.

Sleep: Johannesburger

Day 15:

Fly out of SA in the morning.
