Will be in SA for only 10 days with college age daughter (she’s doing a study abroad in Stellenbosch). Will arrive in CPT very late, so looking for cheap hotel to just sleep after 23 hour flight from USA.
First couple days: Stellenbosch
Day 1 on GR: Plan to Betty’s Bay-L’Agulhus-Swellendam-Mossel Bay-Wilderness accommodations.
Is the shark diving near Hermanus worth it this time of year?
Day 2 GR: Wilderness-Robberg nature Center-Plettenberg Bay-Nature’s Valley-Bloukran’s Bridge for bungee jump-Storm’s River mouth hike-Jeffrey’s Bay accommodations.
Should we try to get further on day 1 (like stay in Plett Bay instead of Wilderness?)
If we do the shark diving, we will need to leave a day earlier.
I’ve studied lots of itineraries, and tried to pick what people recommend as “musts”, but most people have way more time, and our time is so limited, this schedule worries me.
After Jeffrey’s Bay we have things lined up for the nexxt 3 days, but also wondering if anyone has feed back about Camp Figtree vs extending safari.
Day 6: Fly from PE-CT. Haven’t even looked at CT yet, as just trying to get the GR together.
For GR, we love scenery, the ocean/coast, and hiking. I’ve already knocked several things off the list, but want to explore the best hikes. Would also be fun to bike if there’s a place along the way that offers bike rentals.
Feedback please, as many accommodations must be cancelled by 3/2.
