Day 1/2 – 29th ,30th Jan Wadi Rum : Flying from London to Amman. Reaching Amman on 30th Jan at 8:40 AM. Hire a car or 4×4. Drive to Dead Sea. Spend few hours and drive down to Wadi Rum. Stay overnight at a camp there.
Day 3 – 31st Jan (Wed) Petra : Leave early morning to Petra, spend a day there. Stay overnight at Petra
Day 6- 3rd Feb (Sat)-Hurgadha- Fly from Cairo to Hurgadha – Reach Afternoon. Stay overnight at Hurgadha
Day 7 -4th Feb (Sun)Hurgadha- Diving/Snorkelling in Hurgadha. Stay Overnight at Hurgadha
I know it’s pretty challenging plan given that this is our first time to Egypt/Jordan but we would really like to cover the above places. Reason for Cairo-Hurgadha and back to Luxor is because one person is leaving for home after Hurgadha stay. I have few questions and would really appreciate if someone can help us with following:
Wadi Rum : Is it safe to hire a car and drive from Amman and drive to Wadi rum on your own? We are 2 gents and 1 lady. Should we hire normal car or a 4×4? Should we hire a guide there? Any recommendation?
Petra: Can you do Petra after starting out early from Wadi Rum? Is Petra doable in a day? We want to walk around and do the night walk in Petra on Wednesday.
Cairo : Do we need to buy separate tickets for all the attractions.
Hurgadha: Best places for arranging diving/snorkelling? Is it best to drive from Hurgadha to Cairo or take public transport?
Luxor/Aswan – I don’t think there are any 3 night cruise offers on Nile, so probably will be doing via roads. Should we hire a guide for this leg of the trip? Should we book the trip in advance or when we arrive there?
Any idea of how much money I should be taking as cash for reasonable amount of food and travel?
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Apologies but I will put the question in both Cairo and petra forum as it’s a mixed itinerary. Not sure if it is allowed.
